As well as writing slice-of-life stories which have been nationally and internationally published by Chicken Soup for the Soul and many other anthologies and magazines (visit www.lisamcmanuslange.blogspot.com), I also write fiction for kids and teens. Here's a teaser of what I write, the books completed and currently seeking publication:
'Max Jones and the Dino Claw' - short fiction/novella - 6,000 words - for ages 7+
Sometimes during a dinosaur dig paleontologists can mistake bone for rock and in turn causing them to miss a valuable find – it’s easy to do! So because of this they have learned that often things aren’t always what they seem on the outside and they know to always look a little closer for what might be really there.
Max Jones waited for what felt like forever for his eighth birthday. When it finally did arrive he knew he would be able to do many things kids who are ‘older’ get to do. But during a two-day visit to a dinosaur museum in Alberta, it’s an Albertosaurus claw that helps Max learn what it really means to be ‘older’ and responsible. Like a paleontologist, he soon learns things are not always what they seem on the outside.
